Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to announce on Sunday evening whether the 21-day nationwide lockdown will be extended from Tuesday, April 14, to stop the spread of coronovirus.

Telangana's K Chandrasekhar Rao and other CMs have also demanded an extension of the ongoing lockdown. KCR also cited a study by the Boston Consulting Group, which said the lockdown should extend to at least the end of June. "Lockdown is the only weapon that will protect us from controlling the spread of the disease and from reaching the situation in countries like America, Spain and Italy," he told a news conference.
Meanwhile, the Maharashtra government is also expected to pursue the lockdown in a phased manner from the center. Necessary things can be opened here, while local trains, schools and colleges will remain closed for a long time.
According to BJD's Pinaki Mishra, Modi told floor leaders of the opposition and other parties in Parliament that there would not be a nationwide lockout on April 14.
However, the government has not yet made any claims as to whether it is going to extend the current lockdown.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan said that his government would extend the lockdown if needed, while his counterpart in Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot said that the state lockdown cannot be withdrawn immediately, it should be removed in a phased manner.
Odisha’s Nabarangpur Sub-Collector attacked by villagers
Nabarangpur: Amid Coronavirus outbreak in the State, Nabarangpur Sub-Collector Bhaskar Raita was allegedly attacked by villagers in Jhadabandhaguda village under Nandahandi block in the district on Thursday.
According to reports, the Sub Collector visited the village along with local CDPO to inquire into the charges levelled by villagers against local Anganwadi worker, Suniti Kumari Bagh.
While the Sub Collector and CDPO were discussing the matter with villagers, some of them allegedly manhandled the officer, locals said.
